The archipelago of 99 tropical islands including Langkawi is located in the northwest part of Malaysia and washed by the azure waters of the Andaman Sea. It's only 7 degrees north of the equator with tropical climate and annual average temperatures of about 26-28 degrees. Langkawi is the largest island of the archipelago almost equal to Singapore in size. The distance to Thailand from here is just 45 minutes by ferry. The meaning of the word “Langkawi” translated from the Malay language you will learn upon your arrival in Malaysia, but the combination of two Sanskrit words: "Langka" - "Beauty" and "Wi" - "incalculable" forms "Langkawi" - "a place of countless beauties defying description”.
